Danielle Molliver

community defense attorney

Danielle Oxendine Molliver is a Spanish-speaking Robins Kaplan Fellow Attorney. She is a daughter and mother of two beautiful children, and she is an enrolled member of the Lumbee Tribe. She specializes in culturally sensitive, client-centered representation that is tailored to individuals and where justice requires a fair fight.

Danielle has been part of the Innocence and Ban the Box projects and served as a tribal liaison for both the Human Rights and Commerce Departments during the Line 3 litigation. She graduated from Hamline Law School. Since high school she has been dedicated to volunteer management and representation as well as community organization and outreach.

Prior to joining LRC, she was the Deputy Solicitor General for the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe where she co-created and sat on an alternative “Family Healing to Wellness Court” for parents suffering from substance abuse and mental illness involved in child protection matters. She has also been an immigration attorney specializing in “crimmagration” and removal with extensive family law experience.

Danielle is personally aware that clients never just have a criminal matter, but they are facing other adversities including unequal access to the legal system and proper representation. Danielle believes the strongest tool for justice is empathy. Empathy can lead to better outcomes for clients and a more just and compassionate legal system. It is vital for legal practitioners, judges and politicians alike to recognize the power of empathy and embrace it as a fundamental tool in their pursuit of justice.
