Shavonte Powell

Restorative facilitator & Youth advocate

Shavonte comes to the Legal Rights Center with over a decade of experience in youth intervention and advocacy in the Minneapolis community. She has spent the last three years of her career reducing exclusionary practices and strengthening youth and adult relationships. Shavonte is currently pursuing her Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, with the intent to positively influence change in systems designed to target Black youth. 


Shavonte is the mother of two beautiful children and also a dog mom to a sweet American Bully. All of her free time is spent with her family playing card games and board games, and participating in any physical and/or competitive activities. She enjoys all things art (movies, music, theatre, dance, etc.) and loves to skate, preferably on eight wheels.
